Bank of America does not protect their customer from fraud
  • I was solitated by some travel agent over the phone for deals. With the conversation, my credit card information was disclosed, but I didn't make the agreement for the travel package. The charge is around $890+. After the conversation is over, I realized that this is a fraud and someone try to steal my identity as well as credit card information, so I called Bank of America customer service, which is one hour late after the call with travel agent. Bank of America customer service told me that someone try to get through an transaction with around $890+ but rejected one hour ago, because it appeared a strange activity for Bank of America. I was relieved at the time. I told customer service that I would like to cancel the existing credit card immediately to be safe, block any charges, change to a new card. My acount cacelled the existing card and I cannot use my credit card until I receive my new card a week later. Several days later after I receive new card, I found the charge of 890+ appears on my account which Bank of America let it go through two days later after I informed them and I cancelled the card. This happened on a weekend.
After I received the bill statement, I called customer service and told them that this is fraud and I have asked block and cancelled card two days before it went through. I was re-directed from one department to another, to another. To fraud, to dispute, to fraud, to dispute, over and over. Finally this is opened a case in dispute.
Following dispute, the customer representative conference called "Cancun Luxury Travel" which appears in the charge name. "Cancun Luxury Travel" said they don't have this transaction and they didn't charge this credit card. Bank of America representative asked me the phone number that I was with someone, so she called, but the other party claims that they are "Corporate Travel Planning " and they don't conference in and will call back later. Bank of America asked me to send E-mail to "Cancun Luxury Travel" and wait for response. Bank of America also asked my signature on file. I did all I was asked to do and I didn't receive any response from "Cancun Luxury Travel" to confirm the charge.
Another two weeks later, I received the letter from Bank of America to inform me that I lost the dispute because other party provided information. I saw a copy of contract with faked signature and initial.
Again, I called the phone number listed on letter and told them this signature is not mine and I didn't sign these contract. I was re-directed to fax my complain to Fraud department. I faxed over and don't know who is handling the case.
I was pushed back and forth between dispute and fraud department, and it is still going on.
There are many evidence that this is a fraud charge: (1) The name of the charger does not match the phone number of the charge company. (2) The transaction went though two days after I informed Bank of America to block, and I even cancelled my card; (3) Bank of America has my signature on file, but the "contract" has a signature which is not from me and looks so different.
I would like to get all the help and suggestions to resolve this. I have been customer of Bank of America for many years. I start to question their ability and willingness to protect their customer.
