What can I do for BOA?
  • I just went in to my BOA branch, where I have an account, and asked if they perform change counting services. The teller told me they don't offer that service but I could go to various stores and use the CoinStar machines (and pay almost 10 cents on the dollar). I then asked what happened if I wanted to deposit my change to my account. I was informed that they "require" the customer to roll the coins first.

It is hard for me to believe that a bank as large as BOA does not have coin counters located in its branch offices.
  • Are you complaining or just making a statement? There are coinstars all over the place, you can also buy coin wrappers at walmart and the machines that will seperate the coins for you.
  • Perhaps the teller was not well-informed.  The bank allows customers to send unrolled coin in shipment bags to its regional cash vault, where there are coin counters.  Normally, the customer brings in the unrolled coin and the teller will bag it and ship it out within a few days.  From there, the coin is transported to the vault where it is counted and credited to the account.  The customer is given a receipt for the bag with a number for tracking purposes.
