Do not call them or give them any personal information
  • I called to inquire about a balance transfer to lower my interest on another card.  I carry debt on 3 of 12 cards, 31% of my available credit with a credit score in the high 700's.  I have never been late, I pay more than the minimum and had just paid $6000 on a $12200 balance with BofA.  After speaking with the first woman she lowered my limit by $14000 effectively lowering my credit score.  After speaking with Amy Edwards she said it wasn't about my score or my perfect 12 year history with their company, it was the numbers.

This company was the worst as far as needing to be bailed out by the taxpayers yet squeeze us once they are back on top.  Ms. Edwards stated that my being a customer was very important to them.  Can someone explain to me where I was important.

I'm paying off the additional $6000 and closing this account.  I will never deal with BofA again and have started working on my family in California to move to Wells Fargo.

I seriously hope that people get fed up with Bank of America's attitude of screwing everyone regardless of our history or not.

This is the first of many posts I will be placing wherever on the internet that I can about this company.  When I call to close this account and they tell me how sorry they are to lose me I swear I'll scream!

  • Just be aware that credit limit lowering has been happening everywhere. If you call any of your other cards they might do the same. I'm not saying that BoA isn't the worst of the worst, I just know for a fact that every major bank in America has been lowering credit limits. It's not about you, it's about them being over leveraged. They've all been right-sizing credit limits for a few years, now. They know it screws up your credit score, and your plans, and that's unfair, but that is the state of lending in America. I heard one story of a guy who had his HELOC cut in half in the middle of a building project. He had already bought all the materials, but no longer had the funds to build.

Howdy, Stranger!
